Utah parents give newborn drugs hours after birth

Wilde and Christenson are seen in 2013. They have each been charged with distribution of a controlled substance in a drug free zone a first-degree felony

Police also listed theft and child abuse as possible charges.

The couple's tryst with the police began when they were arrested in a case of theft at a local Walmart store. Walmart employees reported that the suspect entered the store and had with him his two-month-old daughter in a auto seat, which was in a shopping cart.

Employees said he took items from the shelf and "returned" them for a cash refund at the customer service desk. Cannon said he ran into the sliding glass doors at the entrance of the store and dropped the vehicle seat - causing it and his daughter to roll several times. Wilde attempted to run out of the store while carrying the vehicle seat. Witnesses say the infant girl and auto seat rolled over several times. As he did this Wilde ran past a pillar.

When loss prevention employees stopped Wilde and his 2-month-old daughter from leaving the premises, he bolted, eventually handing off his daughter to a stranger before hopping in his auto and driving away, KUTV reported.

A press release from the Utah County Sheriff's Office stated that the parents were attempting to cover up the fact that the child was born addicted to drugs.

An officer was able to stop Wilde in a nearby parking lot and took him into custody for drinking under influence, heroin, meth, drug paraphernalia and driving without insurance.

Christenson was in the store at the time with her other children, all under the age of 8.

Spanish Fork Police contacted officials with the Utah Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) and took custody of the children. It was there police learnt the shocking story of the infant girl.

Authorities took custody of the girl and her three brothers, aged two, four and eight. Another man fathered the oldest boy while the younger three were born to Christenson and Wilde.

WWE Issues Statement Addressing Talking Smack Cancellation Reports
According to Sports Illustrated , the show wasn't cancelled due to lack of viewers, it was cancelled by Vince McMahon himself.

They are now being held in a county jail on a $10,000 cash bail.

Christenson and Wilde faced more charges after police were contacted by a woman on June 28 who reported allegedly finding drug paraphernalia around their home, which detectives said they confirmed after a search of the residence.

"But there is plenty of evidence that the drug gets diverted; police seize it, addicts talk about how easy it is to buy". She told police she arrived to find drug paraphernalia in the home. The Sheriff's Office also said it found Suboxone.

Wilde pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges of child endangerment, a third-degree felony, and drug possession, a class B misdemeanor. Wilde was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

All four children tested positive for methamphetamine, the Sheriff's Office said. The sheriff's office noted the newborn also tested positive for heroin and morphine.

Christenson was released from jail on June 28 and Wilde bailed out July 5. Deputies said in their statement that they obtained a warrant to search Wilde and Christenson's home.

Investigators learned that Christenson had been "heavily using heroin and prescription pain medication during her pregnancy". The mom is now accused of giving Suboxone to her infant daughter in April to mask the baby's heroin withdrawal.

The Suboxone pumping through the baby's body masked any withdrawal symptoms, so only the couple knew of her addiction. After serving the search warrant, investigators interviewed Wilde and Christenson.

Investigators said Wilde handed the baby to a stranger before fleeing in his vehicle.

Both were arrested again, and this time investigators collected blood and urine samples. Preliminary urine tests were positive for methamphetamine and opiates. $10,000 cash bail has been set for both parents.
