OJ Simpson parole hearing

O.J. Simpson

Simpson has served nine years of a nine-to-33-year sentence for his role in a 2007 confrontation over sports memorabilia a Las Vegas hotel. Simpson hired men, two of whom had guns, to retrieve sports collectibles from two sellers in that Simpson claimed had stolen the items from him a decade earlier.

The charges were related to an incident in a Las Vegas hotel room and not the 1995 murder of his wife Nicole and her companion, Ron Goldman, for which Simpson was found not guilty.

Their biggest challenge, says the sheriff, the sheer number of media from around the world descending on Nevada's small capital to watch as O.J. Simpson, once again, makes his case.

The parole board on Thursday considered Simpson's age, whether his conviction was a violent crime, his prior criminal record and his plans after release in making its decision.

OJ Simpson is set to appear before Nevada's Board of Parole Commissioners later today in a hearing that will decide whether the infamous American figure will be released. Even the prosecutor who sent Simpson to prison is expected to support his parole.

Blaiser says there is a good chance he'll get out.

Despite what prosecutors called a "mountain" of evidence, a jury found Simpson not guilty after an eight-month trial that ended on October 3, 1995.

"If O.J. called me and said he needed a ride home from prison, I would be there for him", Fromong said.

Arnelle Simpson, O.J.'s oldest child, also addressed the board on behalf of her family and said she has remained close to her father throughout his incarceration.
