Emotion-charged Charlie Gard case to continue

Court To Rehear Charlie Gard's Case

It is a case that rocks America to our core, because if something like this can happen across the pond, it can certainly happen here.

The judge in the case has warned he will rule on the evidence rather than be swayed by tweets in what has been seen as a sideswipe at Donald Trump, who intervened in the case in support of the child.

On July 7, the High Court issued a ruling allowing Charlie's parents 48 hours to provide "new and unpublished data" suggesting the experimental treatment would likely improve Charlie's condition, the BBC reports.

The British hospital treating a terminally ill baby boy said today it would examine claims that he could be treated after US President Donald Trump and Pope Francis drew worldwide attention to the case.

Great Ormond Street says Charlie's eyelids can not stay open and his eyes point in different directions because of muscular weakness. I am not going to rake over facts, the judge said, adding he would analyse the case calmly and fairly.

Charlie's parents will be allowed to submit new evidence showing why the 11-month-old should receive experimental treatment in the States. "Ultimately, the human family is held together by this core commitment - or it rapidly disintegrates into survival of the fittest".

Critically ill baby Charlie Gard has been receiving an outpouring of support from people around the world.

"This is about Charlie and giving him the chance he needs".

Seventy-six civilians and two police personnel were killed during the five-month unrest in the Valley following Wani's killing. The troops are now conducting anti-militancy operations in the hinterland to deny space and time to terrorists to move freely.

The British government has no involvement with the case of Charlie Gard
It comes ahead of a fresh hearing of Charlie's case in the High Court on Monday. The Vatican's Bambino Gesu hospital has also offered to treat Charlie.

"It is our son, our flesh and our blood".

I am Charlie. We all are Charlie. So the bad case of Charlie Gard serves both to raise hard and important questions about the proper contours of parental rights - and to sound unwarranted alarms about the horrors of socialized medicine and the insidious arrival of death panels.

Judge Nicholas Francis gave the couple until tomorrow afternoon to present the evidence and set a new hearing for Thursday.

Last week, President Trump and Pope Francis offered their support to the Gards, and now, GOP lawmakers have offered to introduce legislation that could help them.

The New York-Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan has reportedly said it would "admit and evaluate" Charlie for treatment, as long as the baby can be transported safely to the facility, Fox News reported.

Maxwell Smith was nine months old when doctors discovered he was suffering from mitochondrial depletion syndrome and - after undergoing treatment denied by the courts to Charlie - recently started to move his eyes for the first time in four years.

In the United States, Father Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, also launched a prayer campaign for Charlie. But the British courts refuse to let them bring Charlie Gard to the United States. "This is clearly an instance when parental rights must prevail".
