Justin Walters 32

Another trooper arriving on the scene found Davis in a roadside ditch. "She got along with everybody", Mikels said.

Davis had been a New York State Police trooper for four years. He said Nichole met Justin Walters around the time she finished high school in the Syracuse area and was heading to business school. The couple lived in a trailer on the property.

U.S. Army soldier Justin Walters, 32, has been accused of killing his wife and a state trooper and injuring another woman on Sunday, July 9.

According to Fort Drum Public Affairs Director Julie Halpin, Justin Walters has been posted at Fort Drum since he joined the Army in 2007. He served two 12 month tours in Afghanistan, from January 2009 to January 2010, and from March 2011 to March 2012. He died early Monday in a local hospital. He was said to be in custody in Watertown late Sunday night.

Trooper Davis, of Evans Mills, NY, was 36 years old.

WNYF-TV reports that Walter's wife was found shot to death on the rural property.

Deputy John Gleason not only worked with Davis, but was friends with him. Walker has pleaded not guilty to the murder charges of his wife and his trial is set to begin on August 8, according to Sputnik News.

The neighbor was taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening injury, Watertown Daily Times learned. He's being held without bail. Walters didn't have a lawyer at the arraignment.

State police said Davis, who was married with three children, responded to the police call of shots fired at the Walters' home in the small town near the Canadian border. He originally was assigned to the Troop D Watertown barracks before receiving his current assignment at the state police barracks in Philadelphia, just outside Fort Drum.

The alleged shooter, an active duty infantryman, is also believed to have shot and killed his wife.

"Troopers share a unique bond and as such, form a tight-knit family across NY state as well as the entire country". When Davis approached the home, he was shot and killed. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
