Sebastian Vettel: "We'll see what we can do tomorrow"

Watch Formula 1 live: Austrian Grand Prix practice session live streaming and TV info

The pair clashed in Baku when Vettel drove into the back of the Mercedes while they were behind the safety vehicle and then banged wheels angrily after pulling alongside. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Lewis Hamilton is the favorite to win this race, as he has -128 odds to win.

The three-time world champion, who is 14 points behind championship leader Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari in the title race, topped both sessions with aplomb.

"Hopefully, we can be more competitive tomorrow", said Vettel.

He lapped in 1m 04.424s, while Bottas impressed with 1m 04.251s as Vettel's counter-attack fell fractionally short with 1m 04.293s.

On his first Q3 run he locked up and ran wide at Turn 3 and on his second he clouted the apex kerb at Turn 1 before a yellow flag ruled out an improvement later in the lap.

"I've maintain exactly the same approached as usual", he said of his planned strategy. "I think I'm done". When you find out something like you have a penalty, that's hard to swallow.

Mr. Vettel had enough in the tank to fight back with a seriously quick 1:05.092.

But his Mercedes stablemate dismissed any idea of trying to hold up Vettel. He has three wins and three runner-up finishes out of eight races.

"I think like Sebastian said it should be a interesting, good fight tomorrow", he summed up.

"Really enjoyed it today and when you enjoy it usually the result is good", he said.

"I was just able to build up the confidence, and this is a track where you need it in high speed corners. I'm really looking forward to the race".

Hamilton failed to find his best level in Q3, calling his drive "so-so".

The ambient temperature at the start of the 60-minute session was 73 degrees Fahrenheit (23 degrees Centigrade) and the track temperature was 86 degrees Fahrenheit (30 degrees Centigrade).

"I thought that we needed to understand better what had happened". I obviously want to try and get up there and get a one-two with Valtteri so I'll do the best job I can to get further up. "It's still there. If I could literally take it back and go back in time, I would - but I can't do that".

On the final runs, Ferrari sent Vettel out again on a set of new ultrasofts, Hamilton followed him with a new set of supersofts. "Had a decent lap in the end - not quite ideal - but it was good enough". But what goes around comes around.

"It was the wrong move, to drive alongside him and hit his tyre". Well done to him.
