Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest: Time, how to watch, livestream of July 4 tradition

Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest takes place every 4th of July at the famous hot dog's home on Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York.

"I didn't do what I wanted to do", Chestnut, 33, said Tuesday on ESPN after the event.

Nobody celebrated harder than Joey Chestnut. After the contest, as the competitors were chatting casually and exchanging war stories (as a one-time eater, I didn't have much material), Thomas came up and asked me how many kolaches I ate. This is his 10th win and he improved on the speed-eating tally that he posted last summer. He ate a record 72 hot dogs, topping his previous record of 70, which he achieved a year ago.

Meanwhile, Miki Sudo notched a fourth-time win in the women's division.

Carmen Cincotti finished second by eating 62 dogs. Police could not immediately confirm if the arrestees were animal rights protesters.

Chestnut holds the world record of 73.5 Nathan's Famous hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes.

"I'm happy", Chestnut said.

The discipline has its Federation, Major League Eating, which boasts about 80 events a year, during a season that continues from February to September, with separate events for men and women (Tuesday champion Miki Sudo, swallowed 41 hot dogs).

Chestnut, the reigning champion, devoured 72 hot dogs during the 10-minute race, breaking the previous record of 70 that he set past year. She beat Michelle Lesco, who downed 32 franks and buns.
