Writer sues Tupak Shakur biopic for copyright infringement

Scarface Slams “All Eyez on Me,” Says Its Not a Real Tupac Movie

In the 1990's journalist Kevin Powell was known mostly for two things, being a cast member on the first ever season of MTV's The Real World and interviewing Tupac Shakur for VIBE Magazine.

According to reports, Powell wants some of the profits All Eyez On Me has already made and to get the flick banned.

Lionsgate have released two new clips from their incoming release, the Tupac Shakur biopic All Eyez On Me, which debuts in cinemas in the United Kingdom later this month.

"After viewing the movie twice in the past few days, it is clear that my exclusive Vibe cover stories on Tupac Shakur (when he was alive), were lifted, without proper credit or compensation of any kind to me", Powell said in a statment on Friday.

Shakur, one of the most prolific figures in hip-hop, died in 1996 from gunshots wounds.

Oilers trade Jordan Eberle to Islanders for Ryan Strome
They will be reunited with the Islanders , and potentially on the same line, in order to give Tavares a scoring winger. They've done that by acquiring Eberle, and it could be just the thing that helps push the Islanders forward.

In addition to naming the film's producers and screenwriters in the suit, the document also names Lionsgate films, Morgan Creek Productions and Program Pictures.

He says he noticed similarities to his work after he saw the film, the most damning being the a character in the movie named "Nigel", a fake composite of a real gangster named "Haitian Jack" whom he profiled in his article. One of Powell's lawyers did have something to say, though.

In addition to these details, the film also shows the "Dear Mama" MC being interviewed while behind bars, which Powell famously did in the 1990s. This included fact-specific narrative changes and character creation in an effort to protect the legacy that Tupac was still building.

All Eyez On Me has so far brought in about $35 million U.S. domestically. Meanwhile, Pac's friend Jada Pinkett-Smith called out some of the scenes between herself and Tupac as being fabricated, Tweeting "Forgive me... my relationship to Pac is too precious to me for the scenes in All Eyez On Me to stand as truth".
