Kings choose De'Aaron Fox at No. 5 overall

FORD: A look back at the Sacramento Kings' best and worst draft day decisions

Sacramento Kings selected De'Aaron Fox with their fifth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Just moments after being drafted No. 5 by the Sacramento Kings, De'Aaron Fox stepped off the stage and into an interview with ESPN.

Point guard was the biggest need coming into the night for the Kings with Darren Collison, Ty Lawson and Langston Galloway all headed to unrestricted free agency next month.

Fox becomes John Calipari's 22nd first rounder since he took over at Kentucky in 2010.

A poll of National Basketball Association fans would quickly prove that the Sacramento Kings have the least recognizable roster in the league.

"You can't really teach speed, you either have it or you don't", Fox told NBC Sports. Don't be shocked if Mason earns a spot in the rotation in training camp and plays solid minutes in a sparkplug role off the bench as a rookie.

Draft is next up during NBA's dizzying days of deals
Keith Williams met Markelle Fultz when he was seven years old, as described in Kent Babb's piece for the Washington Post . Celtics President Danny Ainge said after making the trade he thought he could get the player he wanted two spots lower.

The Kings are once again looking to rebuild after missing the playoffs for an 11th straight season. Not a lot of kids at 19 years old get to sit in the Green Room at the NBA Draft. Last year, the Kings were just 32-50 and finished 3rd in the Pacific Division.

Q. How well do you know Willie Cauley-Stein and Skal Labissiere, and what factor do you think that might be to other Kentucky guys? Wall is the one former Wildcat that Fox is most often compared to.

Where most people remember him using those higher gears was to overwhelm likely No. 2 pick Lonzo Ball of UCLA in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament (frankly, he outplayed Ball both times Kentucky took on UCLA last season). Sacramento swapped out pick 10 for picks 15 and 20 and were able to get relative talent at 15 to what the Blazers got at 10.

DJ Wilson, a Capital Christian High School graduate who played at MI, is drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks with the 17th overall pick Thursday. "Each year I'm going to try to learn as much as I can from him".

With the 2017 NBA Draft takes place later tonight.

Afflalo will receive $1.5 million instead.
