Secret Service says it doesn't have any Trump tapes

The Secret Service has addressed Trump’s ominous tweet about “tapes” of his conversations with Comey

The Secret Service's response does not, however, cover any potential recordings made without the agency's knowledge.

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a decision blocking the temporary ban on visitors from six Muslim-majority nations.

Accusations of obstruction arose last month when Trump fired FBI Director James Comey. In a Friday event in the Rose Garden, Trump again refused to do so while promising to unveil whether or not he taped Comey "maybe sometime in the very near future".

CNN asked Sen. Lindsey Graham, who sits on the judiciary committee, if he personally thinks the White House tapes exist.

Prior to Comey's June 6 testimony to the Senate Intelligence Committee, Trump tweeted a message to the former FBI Director, cautioning him about the possibility of any possible tapes that existed.

But some, have questioned whether Trump is just bluffing about the tapes.

Alternatively, if Comey's testimony was false as Trump is claiming, tapes could theoretically vindicate Trump and expose Comey to perjury charges. Jack Reed, D-Rhode Island told MSNBC on Friday.

White House: Trump won't sack special counsel Robert Mueller
Sessions was critical of the investigation, but seemingly only because it didn't "get to the bottom" of what happened. In general, as with most of the Russia-related hearings conducted by Congress, it was a tale of two parties.

But to many inside the White House, in other parts of government as well as to several close associates of the President, there is far less urgency or mystery.

Author Tim O'Brien, who wrote a biography of Trump that ended up the subject of a Trump lawsuit, is also skeptical.

After Trump again intimated last week that he could have recorded his controversial discussions with fired Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey, it remained unclear if that claim was true. But when he testified under oath in the deposition for his suit against me, Trump acknowledged that he was "not equipped to tape-record".

Another Republican close to the White House said Trump's tape comments appeared similar to the hard-nosed tactics he took when his company was facing litigation.

The National Archives and Records Administration, which governs materials subject to the Presidential Records Act (as such recordings would likely be), told the Wall Street Journal that contemporary presidential records are not subject to FOIA requests while the incumbent is in office.

After a major legal battle, the White House was forced to release the tapes, which pushed Congress closer to impeachment.

That doesn't mean that Trump didn't record his guests himself, or enlist White House staff to do so.
